We are so happy to have Li-Yu’s Paper Laboratory exhibiting here at Fabrikanterne. Li-Yu Lin is a talented industrial designer from Taiwan who is studying her Master’s degree at Designskolen Kolding. She loves to work with paper because of its delicate characteristics, the beautiful colours, subtle tones and the textures only possible with paper.
First each piece is created using a clever technique of sculpting with 3D software. This makes Li-Yu’s work very unique in comparison to other paper designers. Then each piece is carefully handcrafted with patience and skill. Li-Yu takes time to give an individual character to each piece, often placing small details where you do not expect them to be. Each piece is not only a great example of technical dexterity and skill, but a true love and reverence for the beauty of nature. Creating pieces of homes, forests, animals and her beloved Taiwan.
